Speculation surrounding the possible launch of the touch screen BlackBerry Storm was ongoing long before Apple launched its own mediocre offering. Now the hype has become reality and the official launch is fast approaching.  Here are five reasons why I can’t wait to get my hands on the new BlackBerry Storm.

Haptic touchscreen + 3G music/video player = Multimedia Heaven

It’s worth noting that the media player is relatively new to BlackBerry devices. But there’s no doubt that a small lightweight touchscreen BlackBerry with advanced media capabilities is going to be a revolutionary device. We all know that the iPhone’s biggest strength is its media player and there has been nothing on the market to challenge that until the welcome announcement of the Storm 3G. I strongly believe that a vastly improved media player paired with an effective touch screen is really going to give BlackBerry the edge in the consumer market.

RIM’s Consistency

The current variety of BlackBerry devices available to users is second to none and one of the many reasons its customer base is so loyal. RIM has consistently released new models without ever compromising on quality and style.  A wider selection of BlackBerry devices on the market means Vodaphone can appeal to new and different users, and its customer base will grow stronger and stronger. The Storm 3g is set to be the icing on the cake.

The 3g looks certain to Storm the market.

RIM knows exactly what it is doing when it comes to smartphones and it’s not going to release a phone that doesn’t exceed its current standards of excellence. So far the iPhone has grabbed the media limelight because it was the first to release a touch screen and user interface that’s both functional and easy to use but rather like a dull reality TV show, it begins to grate on the senses after a while. The Storm mobile will open up the market and bring us a welcome change.
