BlackBerry Storm 3G - Rumoured Storm Touchscreen Features
Tags: BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Storm Features, Haptic KeyboardThe question on everybody’s lips is what will the BlackBerry Storm’s touchscreen keyboard look like? This may be the first touchscreen that BlackBerry has produced but they’ve already set the standard high with previous stock touch button models. Notably, the BlackbBerry Bold smartphone had a screen which delivered vivid colour and clarity like no other phone I’ve used. So if previous BlackBerry models are anything to go by then we’re in for an eye-catching treat.
Various images of the new BlackBerry Storm mobile have surfaced on the net - some clearly fake, others less obviously photoshopped. No images have been officially released as yet so we’ll have to wait and see but what’s certain is that the BlackBerry Storm’s touchscreen will have some pretty nifty functions. Let’s look at some of these below:
Dual Keypad Function
Reports suggest that the touchscreen interface will offer you both full QWERTY and SureType entry. Hold the phone in landscape mode and you can take advantage of a full QWERTY keypad. Alternatively, turn the phone into portrait mode and you can send text messages on the more traditional SureType keyboard. You will be able to choose and swap your screen/keyboard orientation at any time. Of course, BlackBerry isn’t the first to offer this dual function keyboard facility but at least we can hope that this means they will master all of the things that the iPhone didn’t.
This is clearly a function designed to offer choice and suit all BlackBerry users across the board. Having owned various BlackBerry models myself over the years I have to say that I prefer the QWERTY keypad on the BlackBerry curve 8300. But I know many who prefer the more compact two-letter-per-key design of the Pearl and the 7130e. So this is a function that will be welcomed by all avid BlackBerry users.
