Finding hard evidence or acquiring concrete information on the new BlackBerry Storm Smartphone has been as hard to come by as the Holy Grail. For a long time it was thought that the name would be Blackberry Thunder but that was all pie in the sky. You’ve got to hand it to those people at Vodafone for keeping us guessing. So, basically, this is the run-of-the-mill information that we have to date about the new BlackBerry Storm. As you can see, it’s not giving away too much but it’s better than nothing.

Radio - GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA
Bands - Quad-band GPRS/EDGE: 800/850/1800/1900MHz
HSDPA: 850/1900/2100MHz
Expandable memory - microSD
Display - HVGA Color LCD (480×320)
TrackBall Navigation
Camera - 2MP
Wi-Fi - a,b,g
A-GPS
Battery - 1500mAh
High quality material, high-end finish
Operating System Software - version 4.6

In addition to this, the US packaging of the BlackBerry Storm on Verizon has somehow been leaked and is doing the rounds on the net. From the photos on the pristine white packaging I’ve seen, it looks like plenty to love.  It includes a SIM card, which suggests it will be global, plus an 8GB SanDisk microSD card that will be preinstalled.

BlackBerry Storm Smartphone - Size matters

I also stumbled across the reported measurements so how does the Storm mobile compare to the iPhone in size?

Blackberry Storm
Size – 4.5 x 2.6 x 0.6 inches (114 x 55 x 15 mm)
Weight – 136grams

iPhone
Size: 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches  (115.5 x 62 x 12.3mm)
Weight:  133 grams

The physical difference is miniscule really – all of 3grams in weight and a few millimetres in size – I wonder if you could tell them apart blindfolded! It proves the old adage is true – it’s what’s inside that counts. I’m sure the BlackBerry Storm will be a thing of beauty both in and out.
